What Standards Do We Use When Selecting Suppliers?
McDonald’s® Hong Kong employs stringent procedures to source ingredients through our global network of suppliers. In addition to passing our strict assessment procedures, all suppliers must have acquired certification from international food safety and quality systems like HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). Our suppliers are also required to abide by McDonald’s SQMS (Supplier Quality Management System) and ensure their production facilities and all stages of production meet our food safety standards. All ingredients imported to Hong Kong have to pass through the legal food production and export regulations of their country of origin, and the food safety regulations for imported food in Hong Kong.
All McDonald’s ingredients and foods are prepared according to McDonald’s unique Gold Standard, which details strict requirements for quality, appearance, taste, texture and food safety. All restaurant staff have received comprehensive training, equipping them with ample food safety knowledge. This ensures our operations meet food safety standards, and that our “Made For You” food meets our Gold Standard.
