Two Levels of Gate Keeping
McDonald’s® Hong Kong understands that food safety is your most important priority. That’s why we have also appointed SGS, an independent, internationally recognized inspection, verification, testing and certification company, to test at least 20 selected ingredients on a monthly basis.
Over the past 7 years, over 1,815* McDonald’s ingredients have undergone food testing conducted by SGS, results of which are all satisfactory.

The number of sample testing on selected ingredients is based on the following principles:
- Product characteristics and seasonality
- Level of risk
- Recent food incidents’ trend
- Product popularity
- New ingredients
Appropriate tests will be conducted for heavy metals, preservatives and microbial count etc., and to verify the safety levels of antibiotics in related food ingredients, to ensure they comply with food safety standards. All current and new ingredients will go through sample tests.
